"SORRY, MILES!"
MIKULÁŠ POKORNÝ piano, JAN FEČO bass, JESSE SIMPSON (USA) drums

Miles Davis, arguably the greatest legend in jazz history, is known not only as an iconic trumpeter but also as the composer of many renowned jazz standards. But did he truly write them? The program of Libor Šmoldas's new quartet takes you into the world of compositions often attributed to Davis—or ones he claimed as his own—and reveals their true stories and authors.
Performed by the quartet, whose unmistakable musical synergy is created by Mikuláš Pokorný (piano), Jesse Simpson (USA, drums), and Jan Fečo (double bass), you will hear pieces like Four, Tune Up, and Solar in Libor's distinctive arrangements.
Above all, you can look forward to a unique blend of brilliant jazz improvisation, thrilling musical interaction, and incredible energy that all four of these top-tier instrumentalists of our jazz scene bring to their performance.

LIBOR ŠMOLDAS SOLO GUITAR
Libor Šmoldas started performing solo guitar concerts in 2015. The first impulse to do so was the 110th anniversary of the birth of legendary composer Jaroslav Ježek. Libor decided to join the celebrations with recording a solo album of Ježek's pieces.
The album was is BLUE: Šmoldas plays Ježek. Fourteen of Ježek's compositions were chosen and played in very improvised solo jazz guitar arrangements.
Solo guitar records are fairly rare in the jazz world. In Libor's case, it is also the fact that he doesn't use any affects or loopers.
Blue was followed by another solo album entitled Silver, Sketches of the Silver Screen in 2019. Here Libor Šmoldas focuses on music from the golden era of the Czechoslovak First Republic films.
Libor Šmoldas' solo performances combine the repertoire from his albums Blue and Siver with jazz standards. All in surprising and highly improvised arrangements that make every concert different and exciting.
