LIBOR ŠMOLDAS ORGAN TRIO

Libor's main band in the Czech Republic is an organ trio with an expressive organist Jakub Zomer and esteemed drummer Daniel Šoltis. The trio hase performed on world's prestigious stages such as John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washingtonu DC, Melbourne Recital Centre in Australia and Yokohama Jazz Promenade in Japan but it's home turf is Europe and mainly Prague jazz clubs. Libor Šmoldas Organ Trio will surprise you with the burst of positive energy with which they play their own compositions, based not only on the jazz tradition, but also strongly based on the blues, funk and soul of the sixties. In addition to Libor's guitar and well-mastered drums, the characteristic sound of the trio is provided primarily by authentic Hammond B3 organ, an instrument well known to a wide range of music lovers, but rarely seen and heard live. The group released the album Lay It Down! (NEWPORTLINE, 2017).

LIBOR ŠMOLDAS SOLO GUITAR

Libor Šmoldas started performing solo guitar concerts in 2015. The first impulse to do so was the 110th anniversary of the birth of legendary composer Jaroslav Ježek. Libor decided to join the celebrations with recording a solo album of Ježek's pieces. The album was is BLUE: Šmoldas plays Ježek. Fourteen of Ježek's compositions were chosen and played in very improvised solo jazz guitar arrangements. Solo guitar records are fairly rare in the jazz world. In Libor's case, it is also the fact that he doesn't use any affects or loopers. Blue was followed by another solo album entitled Silver, Sketches of the Silver Screen in 2019. Here Libor Šmoldas focuses on music from the golden era of the Czechoslovak First Republic films.

Libor Šmoldas' solo performances combine the repertoire from his albums Blue and Siver with jazz standards. All in surprising and highly improvised arrangements that make every concert different and exciting.

LIBOR ŠMOLDAS NYC TRIO

ADAM NUSSBAUM (USA) drums, JAY ANDERSON (USA) bass

Libor's New York trio features two jazz heavy-weights: a generation older Americans drummer Adam Nussbaum and double bassist Jay Anderson. They accompanied such stars as Michael Brecker, Toots Thielemans, Maria Schneider, Bob Mintzer, Eliane Elias, Stan Getz, Mike Stern . This is not just a one-off project, the trio has been around since 2015, recorded three albums (Dreamtime 2015, On the Move 2016 and Dusk 2020) and toured both in Europe and USA.
